Florida State University is a university located in the city of Tallahassee, Florida. Established in 1851 as the Florida Institute, it only took male students until 1843 when it absorbed another institute (the all female, Tallahassee Female Academy).
Today it is one of the two flagship universities in the state with 16 colleges offering an extremely wide choice for prospective students. One of these is the College of Information which is the only traditional library school in the southern United States to offer a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or related degree. This is one of the main reasons why this university is ranked number 2 on my list.
The university ranks highly in both major university ranking surveys. In the Academic Ranking of World Universities it ranks 49 in the world, and US News and World Report ranks it 102 overall, but places it 49 among public universities in the US.

When it comes to accommodation and dining on campus, the university has a wide selection of choices. Its residence halls are a mix of traditional, suites and apartments. The only drawback is that the halls on site, close over the winter break. There are also a wide range of dining choices as well, with a mix of cafes and dining halls (some of them open on the weekend). One of the options available is a diner that is open around the clock.

If you were basing your choice of which university to go to based on the activities available, this would be one place that you would seriously consider. On campus there is a movie theatre, a club/performance venue, a bowling alley, and even a student run circus.
Off campus, the university owns two recreational facilities. The FSU Reservation on Lake Bradford, as well as a new sports complex, the Rec SportsPlex.

Jobs would not be hard to find as Florida State University is located in the State Capital, but if I wanted to be part of a Web 2.0 company, I would probably have to look elsewhere.
